Should I see a Physio or a Massage therapist first?

If you are not sure, it is best to visit a physiotherapist first. Massage can be helpful for maintenance and self-care, but it may not get to the root cause of why an area feels stiff or sore. A physiotherapist can assess and diagnose the issue and determine if massage is suitable. Sometimes people may start a massage too early, which can make the issue worse.

Once your injury is healed and you are safe, it might be a good idea to ask your physical therapist if it's okay for you to go see a massage therapist. It can help with keeping the injury from coming back in the long term. Getting a massage can also be a nice treat after doing all of your rehab work. Remember that the massage should just be an extra part of what you do - doing your exercises and stretching is most important!
